Hello. I’m, Alexandria (Ria) Windcaller, host of the Leading Chaos Podcast

I am a First Responder.

And I believe you are too.

This podcast is dedicated to the First Responder in us all.

Everyone has faced chaos. That moment of chaos required you to act. To do something – anything to create safety and order. The Leading Chaos Podcast is about connecting our global community and sharing ideas on what works to lead chaos to safety, sanity, and order.

I’ve responded in a professional capacity as a lifeguard and Emergency Medical Technician. More often than not, I have come across people in need when I am “off duty” and driving in my car or walking down the street.

I’ve been working in the field of crisis intervention for nearly 30-years, writing curriculum and teaching how-to safely manage flash-point violence.

I wrote, “Leading Chaos; An Essential Guide to Conflict Management” revised edition (2010). This book was translated into Dutch in 2012. I train in and teach the Japanese martial art Aikido and have managed my own Aikido dojo since 1990. From 2000-2005, I wrote a regular column called “Off the Mat” for Aikido Today Magazine. As a columnist, I wrote about real life experiences that were on the verge of being very dangerous.

My goal is to always avoid physical confrontation and not just because I bruise like a banana. If you would like to read some of those essays, please let me know and I will start posting them.

I’ve also been covering the craft beer and cider scene for Yankee Brew News since 2003, and often wonder, why don’t I just write about beer full time? Wouldn’t life be less chaotic? Hmmm?
